What's an RV Caravan? It takes years of planning and research to prepare a first-class caravan and to see that it has all the ingredients for success. Many RV'ers say time and time again that there is positively no way they would have seen or done as much as they did, had they attempted the same trip on their own. Organizations that put together these types of caravans, book the best of area sites, activities and campgrounds. They make all the arrangements to take away the guesswork. Most also include transportation by comfortable vehicles on all tours and to all planned activities. Be sure to check to see if they carpool, many do some travelers prefer not to carpool. These organizers painstakingly prepare professional routing trip logs that get you easily from point A to B, while at the same time pointing out all nearby points of interest. Be sure to find a group that uses the "scatter" concept of caravanning it's believed that the safety aspect and the freedom it affords you on travel days, is unbeatable. Old-fashioned "in a line" caravanning is inherently dangerous and downright insane. Not only do you tie up stretches of roadways, but you also have to stop when everyone else does, plus all you see is the back of the rig in front of you. Caravans can be as short as 12 days, to as many as 110; depending on the particular trip you're planning on joining. Each caravan will have an experienced caravan master couple and sometimes an assistant master couple. This usually depends on how many rigs are in the caravan.
