There is hardly a mountain in Colorado that went untouched during the Gold Rush search for wealth in the 19th century. In the Upper Arkansas Valley, there are remnants of miners' shacks, jails and saloons at the old town sites of St. Elmo, Vicksburg, Turret and Winfield.
