Thinking ahead
When traveling as a family, it's always good to take a few moments to make sure you have everything covered... the little stuff. For example; selecting your seats in advance if traveling by air. Reserve bulkhead seats, if possible, to give children more play room. Let airlines know 24 hours in advance if there are dietary restrictions: vegetarian, kosher, allergy etc. Don't forget an easy to reach survival bag of extra diapers, a change of clothing (unexpected juice spills), snacks, toys, or small games. Your child's favorite stuffed animal or blanket is a good idea, but can be an extra concern if forgotten somewhere. Consider what you might do if there is an overbooking of air-space and an opportunity arises to take a later or longer flight for free air-fare tickets good for a year. This is more common than you might imagine during peak season. Sometimes an early response gains the day! Make a checklist of things you don't want to forget that you would want to carry on. Double check it you will find that it makes a world of difference to do this ahead of time, when your not pressured to pack. There is nothing worse than trying to remember what to bring "last minute".
