The Hungry Horse Stable, Little Rock, Arkansas We are a very small family operation, with a large barn and seven stalls kept tidy by our 3 youngsters: Ian, 11; Savannah, 13; and McKenzie, 14. Horse travelers come to us from all over North America, most often in transit but sometimes to compete in local events. On occasion, we have emergency visitors, most recently after a trailer was rear-ended on the Interstate. We rode to the "rescue" and their horse, a beautiful QH/Clydesdale mix, stayed for a week. He was unhurt, but understandably reluctant to trailer up again. Mares with foals have kept us company; one mare was unexpectedly delivered. Her owner insisted on sleeping in the stall. "Lucky" our loveable blind standard poodle, kept them company, along with "Seabiscuit", the barn cat. A spring-fed pond at the back of the front pasture is a welcome splash for friskies who've been on the road for 600 miles, especially in mid-summer. We provide lots of high quality Bermuda hay--and grain, if requested, although most folks like to feed their own. Apples and carrots are special treats for our horses and are shared with visitors. Twenty miles of forest trails begin just back of our place. Reservations are not required, but we are often full May-Nov. $25 per night, per horse. Current Coggins and West Nile required. Please arrive by 8:00pm. For more information go to: The Hungry Horse Stable
