Texas Hill Country's River Region

Discover the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country River Region, located in Uvalde County, just two hours west of San Antonio.  This area is known for picturesque limestone hills, green canyons, and flowing waters of many rivers, including the Sabinal, Leona, Frio, Dry Frio, and the Nueces Rivers.  The River Region's cities include Concan, Reagan Wells, Sabinal, Utopia, and Uvalde.  You can relax at a cabin, guest home, rustic retreat, motel, or a charming B&B.

The Texas Hill Country River Region is the perfect getaway for your camping adventures in every season; enjoy wildflower displays in the spring, fall colors in the autumn, abundant wildlife, and lovely butterflies and rare bird species in the summer. Uvalde County is home to the Mexican free-tailed bat, the golden-cheeked warbler, and black-capped Vireo.  The region is one of the top birding destinations in all of Texas; set between the Rio Grande Valley and Big Bend, you'll want to spend some time with the binoculars along the pristine waters.

Garner State Park and nearby Lost Maples State Natural Area offer a variety of outdoor opportunities, including scenic drives, nature photography, hiking, swimming, tubing, kayaking, fly fishing, horseback riding and more.  Cyclists enjoy the challenge of River Region terrain during Bicycle Classics each October.  Other special events include Nature Quest in April, an annual Fall Fly Fishing Festival with events all along the many different rivers and more. You'll also find shopping, dining, and sightseeing in the charming river towns along the way.

Whether you're looking for a place to for the next holiday, family reunion, group retreat, or family vacation, you'll find that the River Region of Texas Hill Country is unparalleled in beauty, activities, and hospitality.  It's like a whole other state!
