Bastrop, Texas, established 1832, was named for Phillip-Hendrick Nering-Bogel, the Baron de Bastrop. In 1827, Moses Austin, father of Stephan F. Austin, received a grant from Mexico for the colony of Bastrop.
Bastrop now represents a blending of the old and new. Nestled on the banks of the Colorado River, the historic district offers a delightful selection of shops filled with gifts, crafts, books and antiques. Adding to the charm, many restaurants provide visitors with delicious food and a friendly atmosphere.
In addition to exceptional shopping and dining, Bastrop has a lot more to offer. Golfing at Pine Forest Golf Club provides the golfer a challenge plus a beautiful scenic atmosphere. Come experience it for yourself.
Fishing is great on Lake Bastrop or the Colorado River. The river also offers boating and canoeing. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the river on the Colorado River Walk.
