Take the 10-cent tour!
The Blue Water Trolley in Port Huron recaptures the past of public transit and the Blue Water Area on a unique tour. Its starting point is downtown at 331 Huron Ave., however, you may board at any of the many stops along its route. The Blue Water Trolley includes a one-hour narrated tour of local points of interest taking you through the heart of Port Huron and along the riverfront Edison Parkway for a panoramic glimpse of the Blue Water Bridges and the Thomas Edison Statue and Depot. Fare is a dime!
Anyone have a light?
Fort Gratiot Lighthouse, built in 1814, is Michigan's oldest lighthouse. Drive east on I-69 to Port Huron then north on M-25. Call Bob Hanford at 810-982-3659 for tour reservations. Please note there are no restrooms at the lighthouse or park, no sandals and open-toes shoes! If it's raining and the steps and observation deck of the tower are hazardous, no visitors may climb the tower to the observation gallery.
The Huron Lightship Museum is just north of Port Huron Museum at Pine Grove Park. Enjoy a first-hand look at how sailors lived and worked on board the lightship. Lightships were like floating lighthouses, anchored in areas that were too deep or expansive to construct a lighthouse. Eventually, lighted buoys replaced lightships and the Huron Lightship, the last of her kind, retired from service.
Thomas Edison Depot Museum, Port Huron, is located in the Railroad Depot of Fort Gratiot Station of the Grand Trunk Railroad. Take a trip through the past, tour Thomas Edison's life. Thomas Edison conducted his first scientific experiments on the train between Port Huron and Detroit. An authentic railcar with a recreation of Edison's mobile printing shop and chemistry laboratory is part of the display.

Highlander Sea Tall Ship is at Desmond Landing in Port Huron just south of the Blue Water Bridge. Tour this gaff-rigged, topsail schooner built in 1924. In her current role, she is Port Huron's Flagship providing educational experiences for the public.

The Bramble Coast Guard Cutter and Buoy Tender, at Desmond Landing, Port Huron, commissioned in 1944, participated in "Operation Crossroads", the first test of an atomic bomb's effect on surface ships, at Bikini Island. In 1957, along with the cutters Spar and Storis, she headed for the Northwest Passage, traveling through the Bering Straits and Arctic Ocean.

Blakes Orchard and Cider Mill is located less than 17 miles to the south. Take M-19 (Riley Ctr Rd) south to Bordman Rd; west on Bordman to North Ave, go south to Armada Center Rd and head west; 17985 Armada Ctr Rd. You'll find an apple orchard, pumpkins, cider, donuts, Coney dogs, caramel apples, strawberries, raspberries, fruit pies, breads, wagon rides, train-tour rides, pony rides (Sat & Sun.), animal petting farm, corn stalk maze. The Knowlton Ice Museum is located at 1755 Yaeger St, Port Huron. This display seeks to preserve and display over 3000 items used in the cutting, harvesting, storing, selling, and use of natural ice as used by the ice industry of years ago. Golfing in St. Clair County is great for those with the urge to "drive." The Blue Water Area offers an abundance of golf courses. For a quick nine or eighteen-hole championship challenge, there is something for everyone.

If shopping is your favorite pastime, be sure to consider Birchwood Mall in Port Huron, I-69 to M-25 north, with over 100 stores including, Marshall Fields, JC Penney, Sears, Target, Old Navy and Younkers. The variety of shopping options doesn't stop there, shop one or all of the unique historical downtowns in St. Clair County.
Wurzel's Fort Gratiot Flea Market, 4189 Keewahdin Rd, Fort Gratiot, features many local vendors, liquidators, auctions, cafe and dairy bar and greenhouse. Part of the community for over 100 years, this is a must-see. 810-385-7335
Go take a hike!
Wadhams to Avoca Trail is an abandoned railroad right-of-way. The trail runs 9.2-miles and non-motorized designated for walkers, hikers, bicyclists, and horse riders. You'll find mile markers every half-mile. The trail runs from Port Huron near the intersection of Griswold Rd. and Range Rd. northwest to Avoca.
Sunny Fields, Inc. is a non-profit corporation managing 40-acre botanical park in Emmett. It includes a 10-acre forest, nature trails, non-woody plants, rare exotics and native plants. This tranquil recreation and wildlife sanctuary is only open to the public by appointment. 810-387-2765
Brennan Memorial Nature Sanctuary, near Emmett, is a scenic area along the Pine River with a 2-mile long nature trail for hiking/walking. For more information, call 517-655-5655.

The Port Huron Museum is in downtown Port Huron, 1115 6th St. Explore special monthly exhibits along with the museum's permanent displays. You can view Woolly Mammoth bones, the remains of a Woodlands Culture Fishing Village, Fort Gratiot artifacts, Fort St. Joseph and the French Fur Trade, ship models and nautical objects, a Victorian parlor and models of the railroad and river tunnel.
Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad, with its 34 historic structures, captures a simpler time. Stroll around our 51-acre village where friendly folks in period-attire welcome you to the homes, mills and shops dating back to the 1800s. "All Aboard!" The magnificent Huckleberry Railroad is waiting for you to board one of its 15 historic coaches for a nostalgic 8-mile, 45-minute ride. Goodells County Park is located at the center of St. Clair County, close to I-69 and Lapeer Road (Old M-21). Go back in time visit the historic Lynn Township Schoolhouse, the Murphy Ryan Farmhouse and the Farm Museum. Visit the Butterfly Memorial Garden and the MIA/POW Memorial, and "Splashpad" with 11 spray features that including two water cannons, five dumping buckets, ground geysers, a rainbow water tunnel and more!
