Located on a freshwater lake just ½ mile from the Gulf of Mexico, all 496 campsites have water, electricity,sewer, picnic tables and barbecue grills. The 11 bathhouses scattered throughout the campground have hot showers and all are handicap-accessible. Also within the campground are two playground areas and several hiking trails. Around-the-clock security patrol is provided.
The Nature Center has numerous wildlife exhibits, and the staff plans activities and presentations throughout the year. Our activities building is newly constructed and has a 200 person capacity.
In the campground, the Lake Pavilion provides a campstore, laundromat, tennis courts, game room and boat launch (portions are under reconstruction.) Gulf State Park also offers a beautiful 18-hole golf course and a long fishing pier where fishing licenses may be purchased. The park has over 20 miles of hiking and biking trails.
In the adjacent communities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach there are many fine- and casual-dining restaurants. Several marinas offer boat rentals, sailing and bay and deep-water Gulf fishing, on charter boats and party boats. Water sports of all types are possible. Retail stores make available merchandise of all types and nearby is the area's largest factory mall, with over 120 namebrand stores.
So come to spectacular Gulf State Park, recently named the #1 State Park in the nation. With its abundant natural beauty, soft sand gulf beaches and average yearly temperature of 69F, this truly is the "American Riviera".
