The Rock Springs KOA is conveniently located just off I-80, between Exit 99 and Exit 102 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The Kampground is set back away from the highway and against the high desert foothills. Our location provides easy access to nearby shopping in Rock Springs, Green River and the Flaming Gorge Loop tour. We are open all year. Please join us for a night, a few days or longer.

Things to See and Do Around

Rock Springs, Wyoming!

Welcome to our spacious campground with spectacular views on all sides. Enjoy colorful sunrises and sunsets and maybe you’ll see bands of wild horses that roam the Red Desert! We are the perfect base camp for your Wyoming adventures.

  • FLAMING GORGE – Experience truly wild country at this outdoor wonderland! With the 91-mile Flaming Gorge Reservoir and the famous Green River at your feet, you can enjoy boating, world-class fishing, hiking over 200 miles of trails and beautiful scenic drives. The scenery is breathtaking and the abundant wildlife includes moose, elk, antelope and wild horses! Some facilities are wheelchair accessible. Located just south of Rock Springs.
  • WILD HORSES – See the living symbols of the American West! These beautiful wild horses are descendants of Spanish horses brought here in the 1500s and those let loose from ranches. Drive the two and a half hour Pilot Butte Wild Horse Scenic Loop Tour to hear the pounding hooves and see the flying manes! Weather is unpredictable and the area is remote, so be prepared.

  • Rock Springs Historical Museum was built of locally quarried sandstone in 1894 and first served as City Hall. See exhibits on life in a western coal town from 1868 to the present! Open Monday and Wednesday, 10:00 am – 8:00 pm; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm; Saturday, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm in the summer and Wednesday – Saturday, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm in the winter. Free admission. Located in downtown Rock Springs.
  • The Sweetwater County Historical Museum is housed in the historic post office and has exhibits on local history, fur trading, mining and ethnic diversity. Open Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm; Saturday, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm; from April – December, Saturday is 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. Free admission. Located in Green River; 15 miles west of Rock Springs.
  • The WWCC Natural History Museum in Rock Springs is the place to go to see fossils and replicas of the dinosaurs that once roamed Wyoming! Open daily 9:00 am – 10:00 pm. Free admission.
  • SWEETWATER EVENTS COMPLEX – This 320-acre facility is a great place to enjoy the beauty of Wyoming’s landscape and exciting events for every interest! Enjoy holiday celebrations, livestock and equestrian events, car racing, demolition derbies and the Red Desert Roundup Rodeo. Don’t miss Wyoming’s Big Show, the Sweetwater Fair, during the first week of August! See exhibits, handicrafts, livestock, live entertainment and more!
  • SWEETWATER COUNTY PARKS & RECREATION CENTERS – The Pioneer Trails Picnic Grounds, 20 miles north of Green River, has 52 acres of picnic tables and shelters, playgrounds, nature trails and volleyball courts. Sweetwater County Picnic Grounds, only five miles west of Green River, has playgrounds, a youth fishing pond, boat ramp, and a softball field! The Rock Springs Recreation Center has weight rooms, a pool, track, ice arena sports courts and kids’ play areas. The Green River Recreation Center has a pool, gymnasium, track, and outdoor recreation deck. There is also an Archery Range, Shooting Sports Complex, Aero modeler facilities and so much more!
  • ROCKS & FOSSILS – Southwestern Wyoming is in a high desert - left when an ancient lake dried up, leaving amazing fossils and rock formations behind. Castle Rock is an impressive landmark whose layers are rich in fossilized fish and plants. Pilot Butte dominates the landscape and has a staircase built into the side so you can climb to the summit for panoramic views. There is a wealth of fossilized fish, palm fronds, leaves, shells and more to be found!
  • COMMUNITY FINE ARTS CENTER – Don’t miss the cultural highlight of Rock Springs! This multi-arts center has both permanent collections and changing displays focusing on American paintings, photographs and sculpture. Artists include Norman Rockwell, Edward Chavez and Grandma Moses. Open Monday – Thursday, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Friday – Saturday, 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Free admission.
  • WHITEWATER PARK – This is not your ordinary park! This section of the Green River has been designed with the kayaker in mind. There are four drops with pools, a slalom course, viewing areas and an area for tubing and fishing. Two Kayak Rodeos are held each summer, where participants perform tricks for points. Located 15 miles west of Rock Springs.
  • MOUNTAIN BIKING – There are hundreds of miles of single track and dirt trails in Sweetwater County just waiting for you! Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, there is something right for you. Experience intense climbs, exciting descents and amazing views! Keep your eyes open for wild horses, elk, deer and antelope.
  • WHITE MOUNTAIN PETROGLYPHS – Don’t miss this series of ancient artworks etched into the sandstone bedrock in the Upper Wasatch formation! See drawings of elk, buffalo, horses and human figures dating from 200 – 1,000 years ago. Located 26 miles northeast of Rock Springs. You will need a high-clearance vehicle, a full tank of gas, food, water and a camera.
